What a Difference a Year Makes

Last week, I wrote about my travels to Central Europe – as part of a trade mission with Columbus 2020. However, while I was at the Bergamo Airport, I received a ‘ping’ on my phone from Facebook asking me to check out my memories for this date. The first memory was that date from 2015 – when the Licking County Chamber of Commerce & GROW Licking County named me their new director.
As I sat in Italy looking at the Swiss Alps, I was taken aback by all that has changed over the past year – all the wonderful local partners I have met, company leaders that I have spoken to about Licking County, and the places I have ventured to talk about Licking County and all the possibilities here.
From Dallas where GROW met with companies in Aerospace/Defense to Chicago where we learned about innovations in advanced manufacturing from companies from all around the world to Cleveland where GROW brought home a national award for our “ED-101 Connect” seminar series to finally Central Europe where our trade mission group met with 12 companies over 5 days (and traveled well over 50 hours combined) to discuss opportunities here in Central Ohio – and every single local council, school board, & committee meeting in between – this has been an amazing, challenging, and rewarding year.
Thank you to my Board of Directors for your continued vote of confidence, our community partners for welcoming me to your meetings to talk about GROW Licking County and how we can aid in your development goals, my former colleagues for allowing me to continue to reach out and talk through some obstacles here, & especially to my Chamber team members for all your help & guidance over the past year.
We have some true momentum here in Licking County – and I am honored to help lead the effort as we continue to promote family sustaining job opportunities here in Central Ohio!
